Punctuality

It is important that parents and staff support children in developing their understanding of punctuality.  It is essential that children come to school on time to avoid disruption to their day’s learning. We refer persistent lateness to Children and Families First.
If your child is late for any reason, you must ensure that they report to the school office so they can be marked in the register. We recognize that there are emergencies when children are collected from school late and will support these situations. We will always ensure the children’s safety but will contact parents or caregivers if children are left at school without prior notice.

Absence

If your child is absent from school, you must notify us and explain why to ensure that the absence is not registered as unauthorized. Please telephone the school office at the start of the day; remember that absences must be reported each day. We are legally required to code all absences by reason and we will notify Children and Families First if children are absent regularly. Due to amendments made by the Department for Education on 1 September 2013, Headteachers are no longer able to authorize absences for the family holiday taken during term time, unless there are ‘exceptional’ circumstances.
If a child is absent from school due to a family holiday without appropriate authorization, it will be recorded as an unauthorized absence. If you feel you have an exceptional reason for taking your child/ren out of school during term time, please ensure that you request permission in writing, completing a ‘Request for Exceptional Leave’ form, prior to making any arrangements or bookings. Please contact the school office for more information.

Anti-Aggression Policy

EIS does not tolerate aggressive acts towards staff, pupils or other parents. If there is an act of aggression against the school community, or on the school site, it is logged and we inform Coventry Local Authority and the police. In extreme cases, offenders may be banned from our site
